Artist Profile
Jamie Thome
Chicago artist Jamie Lou Thome is a founding member of Vespine Gallery and Studios. After a lovely childhood spent in Missouri, Thome moved to Chicago to study at Columbia College Chicago’s prestigious Center for the Book and Paper Arts, where she received her MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts in 2000. To survive in a cash based world, Thome teaches Composition in the English Department at Columbia, bookbinding at the Center, and works as a teaching artist for Project AIM through Columbia’s Center for Community Arts Partnership. She visits Chicago Public Schools as a teaching artist for Arts Resources in Teaching, as well. Thome enjoys spending time making artwork at Ragdale Foundation in Lake Forest, IL, and her work is shown internationally as well as here at home.
